Minimum Wage Increase Announcement by the Fair Work Commission effective 01 July 2022

The Fair Work Commission has exceeded the government’s suggested 5.1% increase for the national minimum wage and announced a 5.2% national minimum wage increase to $21.28 per hour or $812.60 per week.

The Fair Work Commission said its decision would affect more than 2.7 million workers, as well as other employees on enterprise agreements. According to the Fair Work Commission, the increase will not adversely affect the economy.

Employers will need to check updated pay rates under their Awards on 01 July 2022 and implement any increases in their payroll and accounting systems to ensure employees are paid accurately.
