Do you have safe work methods in place?

Oricon Group Pty Ltd has been sentenced for breaching the Victorian OHS Act after five workers were injured in a scaffold collapse at a multi-townhouse development in Craigieburn Victoria.

A partially erected scaffolding collapsed, causing the existing scaffolding to collapse which the workers were on.  The workers sustained non-life threatening injuries.  Oricon pleaded guilty to the charges as they failed to prepare a safe work method statement for the high-risk construction work.

Oricon was sentenced to an adjourned undertaking to be of good behaviour to June 2024 without conviction.  They were ordered to pay $3,000 to the Court Fund and costs of $6,000.  If Oricon had not pleaded guilty the Court would have imposed a fine of $10,000.
